View From The Pines

President's Message

Welcome to the Pine Tree Potters' Guild 2019 Juried Exhibition, "View from the Pines" and 40th Anniversary celebration.

We are excited to be displaying our juried work in the galleries of the historic Aurora Cultural Centre.

This exhibition has been over two years in the planning and, on behalf of the Guild, I would like to thank Teresa Dunlop, Cathy Harris and Pam Pritchard for their hard work in organizing this amazing exhibition.

I would also like to recognize the 40 members who submitted a total of 93 pieces to be considered for inclusion in this exhibition, furthering Pine Tree's commitment to advancing ceramic arts.

The exhibition contains a diverse collection of pieces: functional, sculptural and conceptual that reflect the skills and interests of our membership. Indeed, there are many different views from the pines.

Two well-known Jurors, Angelo Di Petta and Janna Hiemstra blind juried the 93 pieces submitted. "Blind" jurying means the jurors selected the 48 pieces to be exhibited solely based on work without knowing who created it.

Eight of the pieces were selected by the jurors to receive exhibition awards. One of the awards is a solo exhibition for one participant. This will be held at the Cultural Centre in late 2022 or early 2023. There will also be a People's Choice Award to be selected by the Aurora Cultural Centre at the end of the exhibition.

As President of the Guild, I am very pleased to welcome you to this Exhibition of outstanding work.
