Teresa O'Grady-Dunlop

Like some of the other members in this gallery, taking evening classes at Pine Tree Potter's Guild was the jumping off point for Teresa's development as a ceramic artist. She joined the Guild in 2001 and ever since has been actively learning about throwing, handbuilding, surface techniques, glazing and firing methods. Pottery has become a passion and now, as Teresa completes her first career as an elementary school teacher, she plans to begin a new career as a full time ceramic artist.

Teresa will continue teaching, but from now on the focus will be on pottery. She currently teaches the beginning wheel classes at Pine Tree Potter's.

Teresa integrates abstract landscape and natural elements into the form and surfaces of her finished pieces.

She is a functional potter. Her pottery is  intended to be used and enjoyed.  Careful consideration of the form is central to making good, functional pieces.  Teresa loves to make mugs that people will use. Attention is given to the shape, size, lip, handle, and glaze.  Early morning coffee or afternoon tea is made more pleasurable when served in a mug that is comfortable to hold and, dare it be said, to caress!

Still there is more to Teresa's work than her mugs. Check out her website at http://teresaogradydunlopceramics.com.
