Cathy Harris

Cathy was raised northeast of Toronto on a small farm near Brooklin, Ontario. It was here and at their cottage near the Bay of Quinte that Cathy recorded all of nature's phenomena with her inner eye, summer after summer. This rural upbringing is apparent in Cathy's whimsical bowls. Geese, bunnies, frogs or squirrels meander around the bowls or peek over the rims. One of Cathy's best rewards is to see the look of surprise and delight on customers' faces when they first look inside one of her bowls. They may find themselves gazing into a nest of hatching eggs, a treasure trove of carrots, a hoard of acorns, or the hidden secrets of pond life. Her backyard water garden and the wild bunnies grazing in her garden is another source of inspiration and are reflected in many of her pieces.

In her studio, aptly titled "Potters' Pleasure," she produces functional and decorative porcelain work. She has participated in juried exhibitions and shows across Ontario over the last 12 years

Cathy has served on the Board of Directors at the Pine Tree Potters' Guild in Aurora for over 12 years. She is also a member of Toronto Potters' and holds memberships with FUSION, The Ontario Clay and Glass Association and the Ontario Crafts Council.
