This is an Intermediate/advanced wheel class suitable for those with experience on the potter’s wheel wishing to improve their throwing skills. Students must be comfortable with wedging and centering several pounds of clay, as well as throwing and trimming cylinders, small bowls, and plates. During this course students will focus on specific forms including lidded vessels and teapots (week 1-3), large plates, bowls and cups (weeks 4-6) and glazing techniques (week 7 – 8). Students will practice repetition while throwing consistent forms and consider, discuss and experiment with design details, such as handles and spouts.
